You ever feel like you have more than one side/talent that you could use but it never gets out? Right now I feel like I could be an interior designer and help others design their homes to make it more comfortable to live in. I love designing and I feel like I haven’t been able to use that skill that I have. I also feel like I could be a great host or party planner but I haven’t used that skill either. It makes me feel like I’m missing something. That I’m not reaching mt full potential. I’m not sure if I ever will if I think about it this way. Maybe the time will come later in life when I have kids and can design their rooms and throw them birthday parties. I have the rest of my life to work towards those skills and maybe then I can work at them and make them into more than what they are right now.

Don’t get me wrong, I love doing my pottery and want to be an achieved potter, but there is so much more I know I can do. I think life will open up later on and I will be able to use those skills. Heck, I have a college dorm I can design next semester, that’s a start right! I will probably change that room around like four or five times during the duration of the year. Unless I keep too busy with my pottery senior exhibition stuff.

One thing I would love to work on is getting organized and get rid of stuff I don’t use anymore. I always feel like I want to get rid of stuff but so much of it has memories to me that it is not easy to part with. I realize that makes me a little materialistic but I hope I can get over more of that as time goes on.

What’s your summer going to be like? I will be one busy woman for summer this year! Lots going on! I have a great pottery internship, hopefully a job, and I get to go to Penland School of the Arts and Crafts for glaze calculations!! Super excited. I have also created another blog for just my pottery! Have a Facebook for it too. Yayyy for moving forward and making memories and working hard.

I wish I had a 35 mm camera and lens, I used one this semester and had a great time taking pictures and developing them! It is such a different skill then just taking pictures on a digital camera. You have to make sure you load the camera right, take the pictures with the correct lighting and then develop the film, let alone after that you have to enlarge the image and create a print. Goes back to our basic camera skill.

This summer I want to have a fun full summer but also slow down and get in the woods and relax, enjoy the sounds, smells and feel of trees and the environment of nature surrounding me. Slow down a little and enjoy the simple life.

I am very sorry I never keep up with my blog and offer new posts all the time. I’m always down in the ceramic studio working my butt off trying to find my style and get career ready. I am very excited about summer! I have some opportunities to further my education in ceramics. I might be able to stay and help at a home run studio as well as help another potter with festivals. I also put an application in for Penland the school of arts and crafts and hopefully get accepted to take a course to also help my knowledge of pottery!

A lot to look forward to for summer, hope it all works out. I am so ready to have my own studio, but still new to learn the ins and outs of the business aspect of it all.

Keeping busy in my art filled semester! Keeping a notebook and track of all the pottery pieces I am making this semester. So far it’s helping a lot! I wrote down a description, an item number as well as what glaze I plan to use. The number is also on the bottom of my pieces. Then I’ll know what glazes I tried out and keep track of what I like and what I can change.

Ok ok enough talking! I need to set an alarm and post everyday, I still doubt I’ll remember. Staying too busy at school at the moment. I’ll have to post sown of my pieces soon! Show my loves off! Haha

Have you ever had an idea or wanted to get an activity or program or group together and started? Well right now I am on the high of excitement to get a pottery club going at my college. I just have one little problem that is causing me to doubt myself a little bit. I have trouble with follow through. I have a friend that is helping me out with it all but man I don’t want that negative thought to put me down. I just want to succeed and make it happen! It would be so good for this school to have. We have a lot of passionate potters here and it would be great for all of us to bounce ideas and thoughts off each other and gain new skills. If any one has advice please please let me know. I hope for the best and have to start off slow!

So Halloween is coming up what is everyone wearing for costumes? I still need to find one!!! Give me ideas!!!!!

I love this potter Simon Leach. He is so easy to understand and follow and makes me want to just sit on the wheel for hours. Sadly its hard to sit there when I have classes that come over pottery since pottery is a side thing for right now since I’m not in the class. The bud vases are the ones I need to get a hang of since I hear they sell best around here. They look like fun to do just not easy sometimes!

So I’ll let you guys in one something… I have long nails! Yeah I know right, everyone asks the same thing… how do you throw with nails? Well it is not easy but I love my nails and have always had them, yes they are real, and no not a gross long. I have had some difficult times but I just have to over come it because I can’t cut one part of myself to create another part of me. It takes practice and patience, which sometimes I don’t have! haha But pottery is all about patience I swear it is.

Well I hope you enjoy his video and I also hope you check out some more of his stuff! He is amazing. Get on that wheel and throw a bud vase or bottle and let me know how it goes! I will try my best to get on sometime this week and throw one, I have a busy schedule right now with having two drawing and a 2D class projects to work on, so pottery is kinda on back burner for a little bit. Have a good end of the week since it is Hump Day today! Let me know how your wheel time was this week!

See Ya soon!!

Tomorrow is a big day here at the college. It is our annual Heritage Festival otherwise known as a fall festival. It has over 70 vendors this year and that includes little ol me!! I will have my own booth with my friend Sarah which does Copper Jewelry! My mom is also gonna join us with some of her work. She has been working on some wooden Christmas Trees, wooden Snowmen and some pumpkins. I hope the weather turns out to be nice and sunny like last year. We have all kinds of different stuff being sold cause I have pottery and we also have some record bowls and some pallet shelves! It is gonna be a great day. If anyone wants to order some pottery just let me know! I am gonna be taking orders for some Apple Bakers and mugs tomorrow and hope that good. I hope to get a bunch of pictures so I will upload those in the days after the festival. I have a busy class schedule this semester and its killing me but I guess that’s Art major for ya! ha Wish me luck tomorrow! Hope you all have a great weekend!
